I was very enthusiastically referred to Dr. Hyjek by a friend who was a former patient of his. I started seeing him in Oct. 2017 to treat several chronic health issues. He is extremely thorough & goes out of his way to explain how treating such issues is like peeling the layers of an onion. Well it’s taken a lot of work and a lot of patience but he has been there every step of the way to explain & to encourage. I can honestly say I could not be happier with the results. Functional medicine is definitely the way to go & he represents the best of them. Thank you Dr. Steve (& Jen)!

Transformational. Yes, really! I was searching for a Functional Medicine doctor and found Dr. Steve in the listings for IFM Practitioners. Even better, he was also an approved Chiropractor through my insurance. The opportunity to create a relationship with a FM doctor and chiropractor is exactly what I have been needing. I came into his office exhausted with aches all over, a stiff neck and tight shoulders, daily headaches, vertigo 3-years running, chronic fatigue for over 20 years, brain fog so thick I wouldn't want to get out of bed, and some major gut issues. Basically, you could call me a hot mess. In May 2017, I started a 3-month intensive chiropractic plan, going 3x per week. I remember saying to him that I wonder if I'll ever have a response of "I'm feeling great!" to his sincere questions of how I was doing. During the course of my visits, I was feeling a little better, with the aches and stiffness beginning to subside. He has always been patient and willing to answer so many questions I had. I began taking a few supplements he had recommended and continued on with my chiro appointments. By the end of two months, I had a MAJOR breakthrough in my health. Wait, what is this I'm feeling??! By the 3 month point, I'm noticing: my head is clear, my headaches were gone! I'm experiencing a level of energy and conscious awareness that I have never felt before. I asked him: "is this what healthy people feel like?!" and (happy) emotions would surface as I expressed my thoughts. These changes initially brought disbelief. Ah, perhaps its a fluke and it will all come back with a vengeance. But the improvements kept coming and I was starting to believe it has actually taken hold. So it's now been 3 solid months of improvement. I've accepted and realized that this is indeed NOT a fluke and I am well on my way to a level of health I have been yearning for. I am continuing chiropractic care with Dr. Steve and now plan to also incorporate his Functional Medicine expertise to help me continue on this amazing path and start working on additional deep-seated issues that need the boot. I can't wait to see what the future holds and see how high I can fly! Thank you, Dr. Steve, for your guidance, support, and compassion and your knowledge that you share with those of us who need it so much. I am beyond thrilled to have found you...I can't express how much it means to have someone who works WITH you, as a partner in health, rather than experiencing a rushed appointment with another and hoping they GET it. YOU GET IT. Thank you for that.

I had the pleasure of working With Dr. Steve when he was in Minneapolis. I had one previous chiropractor, who was good. However, for various reasons (insurance) i needed to change providers. I am happy that I did. Dr. Steve and his wife opened a new world of health care to me. The technology, personal attention and body changing adjustments were incredible! I am relatively new to the area and found Dr. Steve during a search for a Functional Medicine practitioner in Orange County. I worked for more than a year with endocrinologists, my GP and endured lots of tests. I was finally diagnosed with Hashimoto's and honestly these traditional practitioners were unable to help alleviate any of my symptoms. As a 53 year old woman, I came to Dr. Steve with chronic joint pain, low back pain, general edema, fatigue and insomnia. Within a couple of months I was close to symptom free for the first time in over 2 years! His approach to diagnosis and treatment was clear and easy to follow. I've always been skeptical about using supplements, but I can actually feel the benefits of the treatment program I've been on. I also appreciate how open to feedback Dr. Steve is - he doesn't force a particular approach if it isn't working for me. He is very well read and always seems headed to the latest training or is talking about some recent research that could have bearing on my treatment. Finally, I'd just like to say that Dr. Steve is one of the nicest people I've worked with in any capacity. I couldn't recommend him more, whether it's for a routine adjustment or a full workup. My daughters and I have been going to Dr Steve for over 2 years. He is the best Chiropractor I have been to. He has helped my girls so much, they look forward to going to get adjusted. Thank you Dr Steve
