Met with Dr. Alicia Thomas today for my son’s arthritis and she was EXCELLENT! She asked great questions, listened extremely well, and explained information into bites size chunks for my son to understand without overwhelming him! VERY thankful for our visit and would HIGHLY recommend Alicia to anyone !!! 😀

This is my second review because the first one was deleted from their Facebook page which should give you an idea of their integrity. This practice provided what I thought was amazing service until I went into labor with my daughter. When the time came that I needed them the most, they provided negligent care. They told us many times (especially after I was diagnosed with Strep B) that after 24 hours after a woman's water breaks that she should be having active labor contractions or it becomes dangerous. Well they decided that I should wait an additional TWELVE hours and not just that but I should spend those next twelve hours doing everything but relaxing in the birth center we paid for which I'm absolutely convinced would have allowed me to relax and allow my body to go into active labor. They sent us to Portland and Lewiston to get acupuncture, walking (they had a class being held in the birth center with many people and their kids which is why they sent us walking) and by that point I was absolutely exhausted. Physically, emotionally, spiritually. I wish I had questioned them then but I figured they'd never put me or my baby in danger. After waiting the 36 hours, they abandoned us at the hospital two hours after getting there. They promised that someone would be back in the morning and then my husband only received a few texts and calls even though one lived in Portland and the office was 30 minutes away. Almost 24 hrs after we arrived at the hospital, I ultimately had to have a c-section. Upon finding this out and the fact that no one had come, he lashed out and told them to not even bother coming. They showed up the next morning and I couldn't even look them in the eye. I was so angry and hurt and they were all in my face trying to help me breastfeed and then had the nerve to offer herbal help with postpartum depression in response to my cold nature towards them. That same day, my daughter contracted the Strep B virus that I had because 1. They waited 36 hours before deciding I needed medical intervention and 2. Used ineffective injection antibiotics compared to the IV antibiotics that's been proven to be the most effective. When I called to file a complaint with the Maine Association of Certified Professional Midwives (which is information they provided for complaints), I found out that they aren't even associated with them and hadn't been for at least two years. When I called it regards to a refund, it took two months of getting the run around before they stopped answering my calls which led me to write the first review on Facebook. Shortly after you couldn't see their reviews at all and mine just happens to have disappeared entirely now that they're visible again. The lack of care we received left me with severe PTSD that I struggle with almost daily. There are SO MANY DETAILS that I'm leaving out because no one would have time to read it but it was absolutely hell. My favorite part is that they used the fact that my husband told them not to show up that night as the reason they hadn't showed up the ENTIRE DAY.

We had our Son at the Birthing Center in Topsham and Sarah was one of the Midwives present during his birth. The experiences from our first visit to now (he is 3 months old) have all been fantastic. Sarah and her staff are knowledgeable, personable, and very skilled at delivering babies. We were always very informed and presented with options. I value the relationship we have developed with her and look forward to our Son growing up with Sarah as his naturopathic pediatrician. I would, and have recommended Northern Sun to anyone.

Dr. Ackerly has brought my husband back from Lyme disease, from which he has suffered for over a year. She is so thorough, spending 2 hours with us the first appointment. And she treats every symptom specifically with a combination of prescription and homeopathic vitamins and treatments. He has regained his ability to sleep well, his focus, his energy - it is all back. I cannot thank her enough. And I would absolutely recommend Dr. Ackerly to anyone asking.

What is a Dispensary?

A dispensary is a store that sells special items or dispenses the specialized items. Cannabis or marijuana dispensariers started in the US some time in the early 1990’s when Dennis Peron opend the San Francisro Cannbis Buyers Club. Back then the cannabis dispensary faced a ton of hardships, but Dennis, his team and dream helped pave the future for all future recreational and medical cannabis dispensaries. In 2014 the first recreational dispensary, 3D Cannabis opened it’s doors in Colorado. As of 4-1-19 33 states have medical dispensaries and 10 states have recreational dispensaries.

At a dispnsary one will find many differnt kinds of cannabis flowers (buds) and concentrates, edibles along with smoking untensils, but have a limited selection compared to online shops like Elev8 Glass Gallery. The dispensary also will have what is called a budtender to help you find what you are looking for. If you need help with cannabis info Elev8 Presents is a good resource.

What is the difference between a medical or recreational dispensary?

In realtiy medical and recreational dispensaries are the same thing. This all comes down to the states laws on cannabis. We feel cannabis is just like alcohol and medical will happen first and then recreational will follow, and so far history is showing this. Dispensaries are an excellent place for patients and recreational smokers alike to find the cannabis that best suits their needs!
