My son has had constipation for 4.5 years - since birth. After our pediatrician had nothing to offer besides Miralax, we decided to see Dr Chang since he specializes in Functional Medicine: We wanted help figuring out what we can do to help our son. Dr Chang does not specialize in children but was helpful on the phone and willing to see us. After filling out a detailed questionnaire, we went to Dr Chang's office where he spent more than an hour with us to learn more about our situation. Fast forward four weeks: He has helped us diagnose my son with leaky gut syndrome, and this is our third week of being on an elimination diet, as a family. Today, we got my son's blood test done, to narrow down further to find out the extent of the leaky gut as well as determine if my son has gluten sensitivity. My son's preschool reports that my son is now much happier after he started the diet that doctor Chang proposed: He is playing for longer time, he easier to calm if upset, and he talks a lot more to them than before. He also eats without them having to ask him to. We are very happy to have found Dr Chang. We are by no means perfect about our diet, but we are happy to report that Dr Chang met us at our current level, supported us rather than shame us, and gradually gave us tips as we figured out what to eat/feed our kids during our elimination diet. I found Dr Chang to be extremely attentive and supportive, as opposed to another doctor we saw who shook her head/rolled her eyes at our then quite imperfect diet :) Dr Chang met us with a supportive attitude from day 1. I like how he doesn't overwhelm us with suggestions, but gives us lots of consistent support. We email him our son's food log daily, which he goes through. I feel we are getting individualized, genuine support from Dr Chang.
